The winners of the 4th Bangkok International Film Festival Golden Kinnaree Awards were announced at a gala black-tie dinner attended by international dignitaries from around the world last night. HRH Princess Ubol Rattana presented the Kinnaree award to winners selected by an international jury of producers, actors and directors from the entertainment industry.
It may be a bit too late in the day but G S Entertainments’ EK AJNABEE, is getting its share of international acclaim over the world. A week after the film’s screenplay was selected for the Academy of Motion Pictures library; the film has been invited for screening at the Bangkok International Film festival, which began on February 17. The film will have two screenings on February 18 and 21 and will be in the top league of films like GOOD NIGHT, GOOD LUCK, which recently won an academy award nomination. “It is a feather in the cap for Indian cinema. We are definitely excited and are looking forward to it. In fact we are now working on reaching out to other festivals,” says producer, Jaspreet Singh Walia.

The fourth Bangkok International Film Festival (BIFF) kicked off with a lavish opening night ceremony last night (Friday 17 Feb) with international stars and local celebrities walking the red carpet to the sound of Thai traditional music.
MonoFilm will be attending Bangkok Film Festival and has set up booths and offices to display its films at Royal Paragon Hall2 (5th floor of Siam Paragon) Earlier this year
The Bangkok International Film Festival recognizes Wouter Barendrecht and Michael J. Werner's contribution to Asian Cinema and will present their company Fortissimo Films with a Golden Kinnaree during the black tie Awards Gala on February 24 th . In making the announcement, Director of Programming Jennifer Stark stated, "The Bangkok International Film Festival is proud to recognize the incredible cultural contributions to Asian cinema that Wouter and Michael have made. Their commitment and dedication to the continued growth of the Asian cinema market is unparalleled."
Such is the strength of Thai-made movies that they will not be put into a separate category at the upcoming Bangkok International Film Festival (BIFF) but will instead be placed in general categories alongside films from overseas.
BIFF director of programming, Jennifer Stark, said films made by Thai directors are now so good that they don’t need a special showcase of their own and can compete favourably in an international line-up.
